Potable Water: A Public Health Issue Video [VT-053] $27.50 $15.00
Potable Water: A Public Health Issue Video

This program from the University at Albany School of Public Health’s “Public Health Live – T2B2” Series, addresses the many facets of the global water issue. Healthcare professionals are often not aware of the staggering statistics caused by insufficient or improper water supply worldwide.

One in six people in the world do not have access to safe water. Water is implicated in 80% of all sickness and disease worldwide. Over six thousand children die every day from diseases associated with lack of fresh drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene. Diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery are also transmitted by water.

In this video, Nancy Haws, Communication Director of Water for People, and John Williams, HDR Architecture and Engineering, P.C., address the following:

  • Water usage internationally and in the United States,
  • Water-borne diseases,
  • The problem and possible solutions of water shortages, and
  • Privatization of public utilities.
