AIDS at 25: It's Time to Deliver Video [VT-104] $27.50 $15.00
AIDS at 25: It's Time to Deliver Video

In this video, David Malebranche, MD, MPH, a leading expert on HIV infection in the black community, teaches valuable insights about the future directions of HIV/AIDS treatment and research. Dr. Malebranche reviews the epidemiologic history of HIV over the past 25 years and discusses how the epidemic has progressed to disproportionately impact various racial/ethnic minority groups in the United States, particularly Blacks and Latinos.

In addition to gaining information about where HIV/AIDS education, research, and activism have been for the past quarter century, you will gain an understanding of:

  • HIV as a social disease;
  • The unique social and environmental conditions that are driving infection rates among racial/ethnic groups;
  • Specific medical advances and policy decisions impacting the treatment and diagnosis of this disease; and
  • Future directions and challenges that lie ahead.

This program is from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Public Health, Minority Health Project.

The conference, initiated by the UNC Minority Student Caucus in 1977, is the nation's oldest and largest student-run conference. The program was developed to highlight health issues of concern to people of color and to attract students interested in minority concerns to public health.
